In São Paulo and Brazil, we have a lot of typical
foods, including paçoca, tapioca and many others, but most of our food is from
different countries. This happened because in the last two centuries, a lot of immigrants
like Italians, Germans, English, Dutch, Arabs, Spanish and a lot more came to
Brazil to start a new life. With this, the brought us new cultures, including
their food. In São Paulo, the city where we live, there are some neighborhoods
that are formed by immigrants. In Liberdade, a neighborhood in São Paulo, you
can see that it’s formed by Chinese and Japanese people, because of the
buildings and the food. We also have some foods that the Indians that lived
here in the past left us.

FIFA WORLD CUP 2014 IN BRAZIL
The next world cup will be in Brazil, I think the 2014’s world cup will be nice for many reasons:
-Brazil is the soccer’s country
- We have 5 world cups
- Brazilians loves soccer
-and we have the beautiful sights in the world
But maybe will be not a excellent world cup because:
-Before the world cup, we have to be better in health and education for the population.
But probably is going to be nice!
Brazilian Festivals
In Brazil, we have a lot of festivals, but in this
message, I will only talk about the 2 most famous. Carnival is the most famous
party in Brazil. People from all around the world come here to the festival.
Almost every major city in Brazil has a competition to see what samba school is
the better one in each city, but the most famous carnival it’s the Rio de
Janeiro’s carnival. In carnival, each school has an allegory car, with a
“rainha da bacteria” on the top, with a special costume and dancing samba, and
in the front of the car there are many people playing musical instruments and
dancing too. Other festival that we have in Brazil is “Festa Junina”. This is
like a country festival, where people dance forró, play games and other things.
Every year in our school there is a Festa Junina. And you, what types of
festivals do you have?

Music
We like almost every type of
music, except county music, funk and gothic music. We don’t like country music
because the lyrics are stupid and the rhythm it’s the same on every music (in
Brazil). We don’t like funk because it’s an offensive, the lyrics are very
repetitive and stupid and the singers have no respect to woman or society and
are bandits. Our favorite type of music is rock. Matheus’s favorite bands are “Legião
Urbana”, a brazilian band, Beatles and Queen. Bruno’s favorite band is AC/DC.

TV series
Our favorite
TV shows are “The Big Bang Theory”. “The Big Bang Theory” it’s a show about a
group of friends, Sheldon, Raj, Leonard and Howard. They are geeks, and one
day, a girl moved to the apartment next to them. Her name is Penny, she is waitress
and an actress. Leonard eventually falls in love with her and they start to
date. In the third season, a new girl enters the show. Her name is Bernadette,
a microbiologist who starts to date Howard and they get married in the fifth
season. In the fourth season, another girl enters the show. Amy is a neuroscientist.
She starts to like Sheldon, but he doesn’t like her very much. Sheldon is the
funniest character in the show. He is neurotic, is super organized, some crazy
habits like always siting in the left side of the sofa, always sit in the exact
middle of a movie theatre and he always criticizes Penny because she isn’t
smart, Leonard because he thinks Leonard’s work is worthless and Howard because
he don’t have PhD. They are all friends and funny. Now, watch some videos of
the show:

Brazilian sports
In Brazil, the main sports are soccer
and volleyball. In our school, we play those and other sports in our Physical
Education classes. We also play handball, dodgeball, basketball, sometimes
tennis and games that our teachers, Leila and Diogo make up.
We
usually split the class. The boys play one game and the girls play
another. Sometimes we gather the classes to play dodgeball.
Last
month we learned how to dance 'forró', a Brazilian dance. We did some dance
exercises.
